Validate PDF/A
Drop a PDF for a quick PDF/A pre-flight: declared level, embedded fonts, encryption, output intent and more. Everything runs locally.
This is a quick pre-flight check, not a certified validator. Use it to catch common issues before formal certification.
How it works
- Drop a PDF into the upload area. The file stays on your device.
- Click Check PDF/A. We inspect the file's structure against common PDF/A requirements.
- Review the results: a declared conformance level (if any), plus per-page and document-level checks.
- Fix any flagged issues in your authoring tool, or use this as a pre-flight before formal certification.
Frequently asked questions
What is PDF/A?
PDF/A is an ISO standard for long-term archiving. It requires all fonts to be embedded, no encryption or JavaScript, an output (color) intent, and metadata that identifies the conformance level.
Is this a certified validator?
Not yet — it's a quick pre-flight that catches the most common, structurally-checkable problems. We're improving our validator to be 100% accurate.
What does 'not marked as PDF/A' mean?
The file has no PDF/A identifier in its metadata, so it isn't a PDF/A document. The checks still show what it would need to qualify.
Is anything uploaded?
Nothing. The check runs entirely in your browser — we never see your file.
